Singapore Daisy

Our Success Story (continued)

However, all our beaches have had their Singapore Daisy infestations reduced to less than 1% of their original levels. Some (especially South Noah beach) are now down to less than one millionth of the original level of infestation! As a result of this reduction, the native vegetation is taking over.
Several other areas that were seriously infested, are now clear and being re-vegetated.

The entire littoral margin of this 2Km long beach (South Noah) looked like this. The Singapore daisy runners are extending over the exposed sand

This is North Noah beach – the Singapore daisy infestation came from a property upstream (Noah Creek), (now cleared of the weed). The brown mass is dead Singapore Daisy. We left a small patch (near the stakes) as reference. That was 5 years ago – now there is no trace of Singapore Daisy after continual clean-up sprays every 6 months).

Same area 4 years later- no trace of Singapore Daisy! The native grass is parrot grass – which Singapore daisy can grow through, making final spot spraying difficult!

Failures

While there are no issues with control, there are issues with land ownership. This patch of infestation used to be part of a now-defunct resort – and half the property (including this patch), was bought by other people. Both new owners are hostile or indifferent to weed control.. and deny access, so it gets worse. This will always be an issue.

This area was almost completely cleared of Singapore daisy once!
